Gobi Altai (19-21 days)

Crossing Altaï mountains to Gobi Desert

You start south, where the land, a huge arid area studded with green oasis, is as marked as its inhabitants. No doubt, we are in a desert of legend: the Gobi. Vertiginous rock formations, icy canyon, lunar landscapes and sand dunes are on the agenda. The journey continues to Mongolia's highest mountain range, Altai, through beautiful landscapes shaped by now-departed glaciers.
Gobi desert covers one third of Mongolia’s territory. Hundreds of years ago the desert was part of the main trade route between East and West, with camel caravans crossing the vast steppes loaded with perfumes, spices, and other goods.
